IPP says adieu

Dear Friends,

Time has come for me to say good bye!

Little did I realize when I became a Rotarian 4 years ago that I will become so much involved in Rotaryas much I did in the past few years.My world revovled around the social circles of Durgapur Club,Medical association activities and my job.My experience in Rotary,friends,has been truly enriching.All these yearsI had the excuse of being a new Rotarian,a novice... but I suppose as a Past President I will lose that luxury.Luckily(or unluckily),in Rotary,I have realized Past office holders get great importance...some times more than that they enjoy during their tenures..Past District Governor,Past President,so on and so forth.I hope I live up to the expectations of so many well wishers that I have now in Rotary fraternity.Coming back to my tenure,I must say that it was really a very fulfilling and eventful year.

At the personal level,no doubt,my visit to Nigeria as a part of the Medical Mission will remain in my memories for a long,long time.I thank my freinds in Rotary for giving me this rare honour.You have changed my life.

Being an ENT Surgeon I always wanted to do something in my own field.The Hearing Aid project that we have started this year has given me a lot of satisfaction.I am sure it will bring smiles to many unfortunate individuals and families in the community.

All Club activities were well supported by the members this year.I feel happy for that.We increased our membership strength by 4 members this year keeping in lines with the objectives of Rotary International.I also take this opportunity to congratulate Pritha for a successful visit to Nigeria as a GSE team member.For a young Club like ours it is a great achivement to be able to sponsor a team member in this prestigious program.Our contribution towards The Rotary Foundation was around $2200,which is the highest in our Club since inception.Coming year our Club has been entrusted to organize the District Conference,the first time in Durgapur.Though it is a daunting task but with your active help and support we will try to make it a memorable one.

Unfortunately,some of my dreams remained unfulfilled and there were some failures for which I sometimes feel sad.I hope you understand and all have faced these situations in life.While every leader starts out with great ambitions, itsvirtually impossible to fulfill every dream or promise.You just get in there and do as much as you can and be grateful for what does get done and for the people who do it.

I wish the new team a very successful tenure coming year and I will be there in my small capacity to help them whenever they need me.

Lest one good custom should corrupt the world.'

Our 5th istallation was held at Durgapur Club on 4th July at 730 PM.Rtn SN Jajodia and his team took over the reins of the Club for the Year 08-09.
DG DN Lohia was the Chief Guest and DGN Ashoke Agarwal was the Guest of Honour.
